Why is it important to give to the FDU Annual Fund? Contributions to the Annual Fund are the lifeblood of the University. Your gift can be used for current operations, endowment, construction of new facilities, or for other institutional priorities deemed appropriate by the University. For the University to continue to grow, improve, and provide an outstanding education for its students, the FDU Annual Fund must continue to thrive and expand. Our leadership societies, The President's Circle, The Dickinson Society, The Millennium Council, The Founders Society, The Medallion Club, The University Club and The Century Club account for more than 80 percent of the dollars received in support each year.
Am I able to give FDU Annual Fund dollars to the school from which I graduated?
Yes. You may earmark your FDU Annual Fund gift to the school of your choice,
- Silberman College of Business
- Maxwell Becton College of Arts and Sciences
- University College: Arts - Sciences - Professional Studies
- New College of General and Continuing Studies
though an unrestricted gift provides the University with the greatest lattitude to address institutional priorities.
Isn't the cost of tuition enough to support the growth of the University?
Tuition simply does not meet the full costs of today's private higher education. At FDU, as at most other private colleges and universities, tuition covers only about two-thirds of an actual four-year baccalaureate degree education. The balance is provided through the generosity of those who came before, and puts an FDU education within the reach of all deserving students.
What about the University's endowment income?
FDU, founded in 1942, is a relatively young institution. As such, it does not reap the benefits of the larger endowments of many comparable, but older, colleges and universities. Therefore, the University depends on FDU Annual Fund dollars to fulfill its mission. As the institution ages and thrives, such support will ultimately increase its endowment.
Why should I make a gift to the FDU Annual Fund?
Alumni gifts have a direct and immediate impact on the quality of an FDU education-- past, present and future; and as the quality and reputation of that education increases, so does the value of an FDU degree. FDU Annual Fund donors are individuals who understand what is at stake in higher education today and what their investment means to FDU. They include:
- Alumni who understand the correlation between a quality education and success in the workforce.
- Parents who want to enhance their children's education and thus their children's lives.
- Individuals who choose to take responsibility for shaping the future of private higher education.
- Alumni, parents and friends who view themselves as FDU stakeholders.
- Investors in opportunity who have a commitment to the future.
How can my gift make a difference?
Every gift -- no matter what the size -- makes a difference. A high rate of alumni participation in the FDU Annual Fund assists the University when it solicits support from corporations and foundations. These funders take note of the percentage of alumni contributing to their alma mater and often match employees’ gifts. Regardless of amount, your support of FDU is essential for its immediate needs and long-term health.
As a donor, how would I benefit from contributing to one of FDU's donor clubs?
Alumni and friends who become members of one of FDU's donor clubs are eligible for a variety of benefits, including library privileges, University publications, preferred parking and seating at functions and complimentary season tickets to athletic events.
How can I qualify for a matching gift and make my gift even more valuable to the University?
It is simple to qualify for a matching gift. If you and/or your spouse work for a company that have a matching gift program, your donation may qualify for a match from both employers. In this way you can match your donation and your spouse can match the same donation. For example, a gift of $50 can become $250 if both companies match 2 to 1. Taking advantage of your employers’ matching gifts program can double or triple your investment in FDU's future.
How can I make my gift?
