He oversees Community College Partnerships in the Southern New Jersey counties of Atlantic, Ocean, and Mercer. Previously, he taught at The Culinary Education Center of Brookdale Community College & Monmouth County Vocational School District, New Jersey.Joseph Tormey has worked in supervisory leadership positions with food service and hospitality organizations in the areas of operations, human resource management, and purchasing, and has more than 20 years of domestic and international experience. He was Culinary Staffing Coordinator for Restaurant Associates, NYC at The US Open tennis tournament and was responsible for recruiting, hiring, and staffing of all kitchen personnel, seasons 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005. At the 2006 US Open he consulted for Levy Restaurants in Human Resources and Restaurant Operations. In 1995, he served as strategic advisor to a NYC development company to build and operate restaurants in Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Southern China. He conducted a business study of South East Asia restaurant markets, launched a successful restaurant concept, and consulted for an Indonesian Conglomerate, 1996-1998. Joseph Tormey has a Master of Science in Hospitality Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University and is a Certified Hospitality Educator. He is currently a doctoral student in higher education and serves on the advisory boards of Atlantic Cape Community College - Hospitality Arts, Mercer County Community College - Hospitality Arts, Brookdale Community College -Food Service Management, and Monmouth County Vocational School District - Culinary Arts.
