| Editor Maharashtra Times Times of India Group Mumbai, India Recipient of Padmashree The highest national award by the Government of India Giants International Award for Excellence in Journalism | Kumar KetkarGlobal Visiting ProfessorIn my thirty-year long career as Special Correspondent, Resident Editor and Editor of the Economic Times, The Observer and Maharashtra Times I have covered four US presidential elections and two British elections.I covered the collapse of the Soviet Union from Moscow, Hong Kong's reintegration with the Mainland China from Hong Kong and reported on unification of Germany from Bonn and Berlin. I have also spent time covering the economic transformation of China and reporting from Beijing, Shanghai and Guongdong. The government of Israel invited me for a lecture assignment on their fiftieth anniversary. I also served as a delegate at the NGO Peace Conference in Geneva. I will be teaching the Global Challenge course at FDU in the Fall 2001. My teaching experience includes lecturing at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. I am also a visiting professor at the University of Pune and University of Bombay in India. Being a Global Visiting Professor is an innovative and exciting opportunity to exchange ideas, observations and comment on the global issues that affect us all, regardless of the country or the continent we come from. I am excited about teaching via the web and am looking forward to discovering new ways of delivering and sharing materials, readings, observations and ideas.
