Professor of Communications and English

Although my degrees were in Classical Languages, I came to Fairleigh Dickinson in 1970 to teach English and comparative literature.
When the Communications Department was established in 1973, I was asked to inaugurate a series of courses in film history and criticism.
The opportunity to teach film resulted in my embarking on a new career as a film scholar and now as a film historian.
I have taught and continue to teach a variety of courses in all areas of film study, including specialized courses in directors such as Frank Capra, Alfred Hitchcock, and John Ford, as well as courses in writing for film and television.
I will be on sabbatical in the fall, and will return in January 2007.
