FDU Hosts an Evening Recognizing Leading Women Entrepreneurs and Business Owners
Madison, NJ (November 21, 2011)-Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Rothman Institute for Entrepreneurship is sponsoring, along with Own It Ventures and “New Jersey Monthly Magazine,” an evening to honor the top 25 leading women entrepreneurs and business owners in New Jersey on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, from 6-9 p.m. All are welcome to register for the cocktail reception that is being held at FDU’s College at Florham in Lenfell Hall, Madison, NJ.
The evening will recognize women entrepreneurs for their service, leadership and contribution to their communities and the state’s economic recovery. Nominations were accepted last spring, and the Top 25 honorees were announced at the Own It Ventures Conference in October. A complete list of the finalists and of the 25 women business owners being honored can be found at www.ownitventures.com.
“We are excited to recognize these outstanding female entrepreneurs. These 25 women have a combined impact of employing over 1000 people and generating revenues of over $165 million in New Jersey. It’s amazing to think that the individuals at this event, have had such a positive effect on our state and have helped to re-ignite our economy during these turbulent times,” said Linda Wellbrock, co-founder of Own It Ventures.
“Roughly eight million women-owned enterprises in the US have an annual economic impact of nearly $3 trillion dollars and more than 23 million jobs; yet, less than 3% of women-owned companies reach the $1 million revenue and beyond. Receiving this recognition means a great deal to the women and to those of us who keep pursuing the dream,” said Melissa Cloeter, co-founder of Own It Ventures.
Part of the Silberman College of Business since 1989, the mission of the Rothman Institute for Entrepreneurship is to teach and support entrepreneurship and innovation in the academic, business and nonprofit communities.
