Fairleigh Dickinson University Celebrates Launch of “The Sustainable Enterprise Fieldbook”
Madison, NJ (September 14, 2008) – On October 2, 2008, Fairleigh Dickinson University will celebrate the launch of “The Sustainable Enterprise Fieldbook: When It All Comes Together” by Jeana Wirtenberg, PhD. with William G. Russell and David Lipsky, PhD. Fairleigh Dickinson Professors Joel Harmon, Dan Twomey and Kent Fairfield also contributed to several chapters. The book, published on July 1, 2008, aims to teach and guide leaders and managers how to create a successful and sustainable enterprise.
Each chapter of the book illustrates through models, tools, cases, stories and examples from a wide range of companies how to integrate sustainability into the day-to-day realities of running a business. Managers are coached, facilitated and guided to enable them to create a better balance between the short and long term goals of their organizations.
The book has received rave reviews from numerous sources, including professors from the University of Southern California, Cornell, the MIT Sloan school of Management, and the Ross School at the University of Michigan.
One such review comes from Warren Bennis, Professor, University of Southern California; co-author of “Judgment: How Great Leaders Make Winning Calls and Transparency: How Leaders Create a Culture of Candor.” He states that, “This brilliant collection of essays lays the foundation for building a sustainable society. Every board of directors and their leadership should make this book required reading.”
“Managers everywhere desperately need books like The Sustainable Enterprise Fieldbook in order to get started on the journey,” stated Peter Senge, founder of SOL (Society for Organizational Learning) and Senior Lecturer, Behavioral and Policy Sciences, MIT Sloan School of Management.
