Free Winter Festival Concert in November

Faculty and Students to Perform

Madison, NJ – November 15, 2005-The public is invited to enjoy beautiful music for the holidays in a free winter festival concert at Fairleigh Dickinson University on Wednesday, November 30 at 7:30 p.m. in Lenfell Hall, The Mansion. The Visual and Performing Arts Department professional faculty will join the Student Chorus in performing music in a variety of styles.

Voice faculty Jane Bunnell, mezzo-soprano, and bass-baritone Marc Embree have selected music from Cole Porter’s “Kiss Me Kate.” Bunnell and Embree have been associated with the Metropolitan Opera and New York City Opera companies and appeared locally with Opera at Florham. Bunnell will also sing original music of composer Alan Cohen, who is the director of the Student Chorus.

The Chorus will offer a selection from the 1500s, “Pastyme with Good Company;” a Shaker piece composed by Joseph Brackett, “Simple Gifts;” “Welcome Gentry” from Gilbert and Sullivan; Paul Simon’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” and carol favorites.

Pianist Clifford Parrish, a local favorite known to area residents as Music Director and organist at Stanley Church, Chatham, will offer Scott Joplin’s “Maple Leaf Rag,” “Rondo in C Major,” by Beethoven, and Debussy’s “Arabesque.”
