WFDU kicks off annual fund campaign
Starting tomorrow, February 1, and running through February 21, 2012, listeners and supporters of WFDU (89.1 FM) can contribute to the station’s annual February Fund drive.
“Our audience knows that for 49 weeks of the year they get great music and ticket giveaways to quality regional events for contributing during the three-week campaign,” says Carl Kraus, WFDU general manager.
WFDU supporters can donate online at www.wfdu.fm or call the station at 201-692-2806 during broadcast hours to pledge.
The pledge cycle often fosters “friendly competition” between shows to see who will take the most pledge calls, according to Barry Sheffield, WFDU Program Director and Operations Manager.
Listeners are “very generous and willing to give of themselves,” says Sheffield.
During this annual three-week drive, the station has a record of “meeting our financial goals,” says Kraus. “It seems that the audience values the station’s programming and recognizes the need to support it.”
The station hopes to replicate past success again this year.
Since 1971, WFDU FM has been the radio voice of Fairleigh Dickinson University, providing distinctive entertainment shows and award-winning public affairs programming for the tri-state metro area.
