FDU Promotes Jonathan Wexler to VP of Enrollment Management

TEANECK, N.J. (Dec. 18, 2009) — Jonathan Wexler, who has led Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Office of Enrollment Management during record-setting enrollment gains this year, has been promoted to vice president for enrollment management, effective Jan. 1, 2010. In his new position, Wexler will join Fairleigh Dickinson’s senior leadership team.

“I’m pleased to be able to recognize Jonathan’s achievements and that of the Office of Enrollment Management at a time when we are enjoying unprecedented success in attracting and enrolling new students,” said FDU President J. Michael Adams. “Not only are we drawing more students from New Jersey, out of state and internationally, but we are increasing the quality of our incoming classes.”

In fall 2009, applications to FDU’s two New Jersey campuses — the College at Florham in Madison and the Metropolitan Campus in Teaneck — rose 22 percent from the previous fall. The number of freshmen who actually enrolled increased 15 percent from the previous year, from 1,000 to 1,154.

The fall 2009 freshmen classes — 643 at the College at Florham and 511 at the Metropolitan Campus — are the largest in Fairleigh Dickinson’s recent history. At the same time, FDU is now 12th in the nation among master’s institutions for total number of international students, according to the Institute of International Education. (In 2008-09, FDU had 1,276 international students, or 10 percent of its student body.)

Wexler said he was “delighted” by the promotion. “In these tough economic times, I’m proud to lead an enrollment management operation that’s had the most successful freshman enrollment in many years at FDU,” he said.

“I believe that FDU, under the leadership of President Adams, has positioned itself to be the most relevant university in New Jersey and, heading into the next decade, one of the most well-positioned universities in the country. It appears that this message is getting out throughout all of New Jersey and beyond,” Wexler said.

Before coming to FDU in January 2008, Wexler was the associate vice president for enrollment at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Wash. He previously worked as the dean of undergraduate admissions at Polytechnic University in Brooklyn, N.Y., and director of graduate recruitment at Drexel University in Philadelphia.

Wexler earned his master’s degree in higher education administration from the University of South Carolina, Columbia, S.C., and has a dual bachelor’s degree in political science and communications from Goucher College, Baltimore, MD.

A native of Bethesda, MD., Wexler is a resident of Teaneck, N.J.
