Dr. William D. Watley to Discuss “Reconstruction From King to Obama”

Madison, N.J. -- March 24, 2010 –- The community is invited to a free presentation by Dr. William D. Watley, senior pastor of St. James A.M.E. Church, Newark, N.J., at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31 in Hennessy Hall (The Mansion), on Fairleigh Dickinson University’s College at Florham. Dr. Watley will discuss “Reconstruction From King to Obama.”

Reverend Dr. Watley is the founder of St. James Preparatory School, a charter school for grades seven through twelve, as well as the St. James Social Services Corporation, which oversees the various social outreach programs that he created.  

He is the former CEO and Secretary of the New Jersey Commerce & Economic Growth Commission and the first African American to hold that post. In addition to his educational and pastoral duties, Reverend Watley is a prolific author of books on a wide variety of topics, including the biography “The Roots of Resistance: The Nonviolent Ethic of Martin Luther King, Jr.”
