Thomas Mykietyn Receives Volunteer of the Year Award from FDU
Madison, NJ (October 7, 2009)—At an Alumni Awards ceremony held in conjunction with FDU’s annual Family/Homecoming Weekend at the College of Florham, Saturday, September 26, 2009, Thomas Mykietyn, a resident of Pompton Plains, N.J., was presented with the Volunteer of the Year award.
This award is given to alumni who have contributed significantly to one or more of the following areas: academic programs, admissions, career development, student life, chapters, fundraising, or athletics. Mykietyn exemplifies an FDU volunteer who fosters the goals of the University.
Mykietyn earned an MBA in Marketing in 1989 at FDU’s College at Florham. Since graduating from FDU, he has stayed involved with the University, appearing as a guest lecturer in marketing classes and conducting mock interviews for seniors. Mykietyn was also instrumental in bringing the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, a mobile hands-on recording studio, to last year’s Homecoming/Family Weekend in the fall of 2008.
Mykietyn is now the director of distribution for Sony Electronics, Inc.’s B2B and Retail Execution platform. In this position, he is responsible for $1 Billion in sales revenue for Sony. Prior to his current role, Mykietyn has held several director positions within Sony, ranging from marketing management to broadcast products. While at Sony, Mykietyn was also responsible for the product launch of Sony’s 4K Digital Cinema projector which is now replacing film projectors in theaters across the United States. This projector is capable of showing pristine digital movies as well as 3D versions of films in the highest resolution possible today.
Away from work, Mykietyn has devoted 12 years to coaching youth sports, including little league, baseball, and soccer. He continues to referee youth soccer today.
