Best Selling Author Fred Van Lente to Present at FDU's College at Florham

MADISON, NJ (February 12, 2010) —Award-winning, best-selling author Fred Van Lente will give a presentation discussing his "Action Philosophers" comics series. Van Lente will speak on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Winner of the American Library Association Great Graphic Novels for Teens Award in 2007 for the "Action Philosophers" series, Van Lente has also authored three New York Times bestsellers: "Incredible Hercules" (with Greg Pak) and "Marvel Zombies 3 & 4."

Van Lente's other comics include "Comic Book Comics," "MODOK's 11," "X Men Noir," and "Amazing Spider-Man." He has published over 200 comics and graphic novels.

"'Action Philosphers' is a best-selling comic book series," said Van Lente, "that tells the lives and thoughts of history's A-list brain trust in a hip and humorous fashion that proves that philosophy doesn't have to be solely the province of tweed-enveloped college professors (apologies to any tweed-enveloped college professors who might be reading this)."

This presentation is part of the 2009-2010 Interrogating Boundaries lecture series entitled "Artistic Bridges."

Interrogating Boundaries is an interdisciplinary, interdepartmental program of Fairleigh Dickinson that has sponsored presentations in the past on topics such as race and ethnicity, gender roles, and globalization.

The opportunity to hear Van Lente is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. The lecture will be held in Hartman Lounge, Hennessy Hall. Fairleigh Dickinson is located at 285 Madison Avenue, Madison, N.J.
