Sweden U.N. Ambassador to Speak
“European Nation States vs. European Union"
Sweden’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Pierre Schori, will speak on “European Nation States vs. European Union: Foreign Policy Challenges” at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s College at Florham on Wednesday, April 7, 2004.
The lecture will take place at the time and location originally scheduled for Italy’s U.N. Ambassador Marcello Spatafora.
Ambassador Schori was appointed to his current post in August 2000, before which he served as vice president of the Socialist Group in the European Parliament and head of the Swedish Social Democratic Delegation. He also served as the Social Democratic Delegation’s spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and president of its Delegation for European Union-Japan Relations.
Between 1994 and 1999, Ambassador Schori was Sweden’s minister for International Development Cooperation, Migration, and Asylum Policy, as well as deputy foreign minister. From 1991 to 1994, he was deputy chairman of the Swedish Parliament’s Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and foreign affairs spokesman of the Social Democratic Party.
Ambassador Schori was educated at the University of Lund, where he earned a Master of Arts degree. The lecture, which is free and open to the public, is part of Fairleigh Dickinson’s U.N. Pathways series presented by the Ambassador’s Club at the United Nations. The lecture begins at 6:30 p.m., with light refreshments served at 6:00 p.m. It will be held in the Mansion, Lenfell Hall, at Fairleigh Dickinson’s College at Florham in Madison, NJ.
