FDUís Visual and Performing Arts Department presents ďSpring Awakening,
MADISON, NJ (October 1, 2012) --- Fairleigh Dickinson University students will present seven performances from Oct. 17- 28 of the Tony award-winning musical, ďSpring Awakening.Ē Performances will be held in Dreyfuss Theatre at FDUís College at Florham in Madison, N.J.
Students will portray a group of young adults on the road to self-discovery during the late 19th Century in Germany. This musical deals with mature themes and contains occasional strong language.
This student production is directed and choreographed by Cindy Thole, senior lecturer in dance at FDU, and is sponsored by the Department of Visual and Performing Arts in FDUís Becton College. Musical direction is by Dimitri Nakhamkin, and costume design is by Beth Goldberg. The musical is based on Frank Wedekindís 1891 expressionist play; music is by Duncan Sheik and lyrics by Steven Sater. This is the first production in a series of four.
Performance dates are: Oct. 17, 18, 19, 20, 26, 27 at 8 p.m., and the 28 at 2:30 p.m. There will also be a matinee for local high school students on Friday, Oct.19 at 11 a.m.
Tickets for all shows are $6 for students and the FDU community and $12 for the general public. Tickets can be purchased at the door or reserved in advance by calling 973-443-8644. Thanks to an ongoing grant from the Peter Jay Sharp Foundation, tickets for students attending the High School Friday matinees are free.
