Joanne Sapio Honored with Pillar Award
MADISON, N.J. (Sept. 24, 2010) — Joanne Sapio, financial aid coordinator, was honored by Fairleigh Dickinson University as a "Pillar" of the campus community at the University's annual Academic Convocation on Sept. 22.
The Pillar Award recognizes exceptional individuals within the University who have made extraordinary contributions to the character and quality of the institution, its community and its cultures. Sapio has worked in the Office of Financial Aid at FDU's College at Florham since 1985. She received a College at Florham Campus Recognition Award in 2002.
"You have gone from being the first person one sees in the office to a trusted counselor, making sure that both students and their families not only receive the funding they need but the consideration and thoughtfulness they deserve," said Kenneth Greene, provost of the College at Florham, in presenting the award. "Beyond your vast knowledge of financial assistance programs, your empathy and sympathy have helped you forge strong relationships with many students."
Sapio, a resident of Madison, N.J., has three sons: James and his wife, Laura, live in Madison with their two children; Michael, wife, Lisa, and their four children live in Madison; and John and wife, Amy, and two children live in Rockaway, N.J.
