Elise Salem Honored at Convocation
Madison, NJ (October 4, 2004) — Elise Salem was honored at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s academic convocation on September 29 with a Presidential Citation.
University President J. Michael Adams applauded Salem, who is a professor of English and assistant dean for academic planning in the Maxwell Becton College of Arts and Sciences. on the University’s College at Florham Campus, Madison, NJ. She was honored for her leadership in co-chairing the University Study on Internationalization.
Salem and her co-chair, Teresa Montani, guided a committee of 19 faculty and administrators through a yearlong exploration of accomplishments and challenges, ending in a comprehensive assessment of the University’s efforts to fulfill an ambitious global mission. Extensive studies on the curriculum, university structure, and campus culture were conducted, and surveys of students, faculty and staff were evaluated, leading to an ambitious report with recommendations.
In presenting the award, Adams said, “For helping light the way toward future distinction in global learning and for producing indispensable guidance and direction, I gratefully present a Presidential Citation to Elise Salem.”
