Steven A. Rudnitsky Awarded The Pinnacle
Madison, NJ (June14, 2005)—In ceremonies held at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s College at Florham in Madison, NJ, on June 10, 2005, Steven A. Rudnitsky of Norwood, NJ, was inducted into The Pinnacle, the highest award the University can bestow on its alumni. Pinnacle recipients are chosen on the basis of success or distinction in their chosen fields; significant contributions to society and humanity through public or humanitarian service; and outstanding service to the University, or reflection of the unique character of Fairleigh Dickinson in their lives.
In 2002, Steven Rudnitsky assumed the post of chairman and chief executive officer of Cendant Hotel Group, the world’s largest lodging franchisor. He is responsible for the organization’s operation, growth, performance and strategic direction. His achievements include an unprecedented quality assurance initiative; the launch of TripRewards, the world’s largest lodging loyalty program; and the creation of a 100-person field organization to support franchisees. He also led the effort to acquire Ramada International Hotels and Resorts and all Ramada worldwide trademark rights.
Prior to joining Cendant, Rudnitsky was president of Kraft Food Services and executive vice president of Kraft Foods. When Kraft acquired Nabisco Foods Company in December 2000, he was asked to integrate and lead their food service businesses.
Rudnitsky began his career in 1980 with McNeil Consumer Products, a division of the Johnson and Johnson family of companies. He subsequently honed his franchising and marketing skills during a 12-year career with PepsiCo, beginning in 1984.
In 1996, the Pillsbury Company recruited Rudnitsky to revitalize its lagging food service unit and serve as its vice president and general manager. In 1999, Nabisco lured him back to New Jersey to serve as president of its food service company.
Rudnitsky received his master’s degree in marketing from FDU in 1985 and serves on the University’s Global Advisory Board.
In presenting the award, Peter Strebel, executive vice present and chief marketing officer, Cendant Hotel Group, said, “You are highly respected by those who know you. Coming from a modest childhood, you have grown to achieve financial success and security while making significant contributions to the business world. By constantly challenging yourself, you inspire those around you. Your University takes great pride in awarding you The Pinnacle.”
