Robert J. Pures Awarded The Pinnacle
MADISON, NJ (JUNE 6, 2008) – In ceremonies on June 6 at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s College at Florham in Madison, NJ, Robert J. Pures, a resident of River Vale, NJ, was inducted into the Pinnacle, the highest award the University can bestow upon its alumni. Pinnacle recipients are chosen on the basis of success or distinction in their chosen fields; significant contributions to society and humanity through public or humanitarian service; and outstanding service to the University, or reflection of the unique character of Fairleigh Dickinson in their lives.
Pures is Senior Vice President of Administration, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, the largest health insurer in New Jersey, covering more than 3.5 million people.
Prior to joining Blue Cross Blue Shield in 1985, Pures held positions of increasing responsibility at Purolator Courier Corp., where he ultimately served as vice president of finance for the company’s U.S. courier division.
During his career, Pures also held positions at Andersen LLP and GAF Corporation. In addition, he served as an officer in the United States Air Force.
Pures is a certified public accountant and a member of both the American Institute of CPAs and the New Jersey Society of CPAs. He is also director of the New Jersey Chapter of the Financial Executives Institute, a member of the Board of Trustees of Cancer Care of New Jersey and a member of the Silberman College Board of Advisors for Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Pures earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Fairleigh Dickinson University and his master’s degree in business administration from Boston College.
