"The Rage in Placid Lake" Film in April
Coming-of-Age Indie Film From Australia
Madison, N.J. - March 29, 2005 – “The Rage in Placid Lake,” a coming-of-age movie from Australia, is being shown at the College at Florham Campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University on Sunday, April 3, at 2 p.m. in Dreyfuss Theater.
Designed for future psychology students, and for family and friends over 18, it portrays a young man’s conflict between conforming to be accepted and becoming one’s real self. It was produced by Larry Meistrich and stars Ben Lee, Miranda Richardson, Gary McDonald and Rose Byrne.
The Contemporary Institute for Advanced Psychoanalytical Studies (CCAPS) sponsors this film as its first annual fundraiser.
Patron advance registration is $35. This includes h’ors d’oevres, a light lunch, the movie, discussion and mingling with the producer, beginning at 1 p.m. A Friends advance sale is $15; $20 if purchased at the door. This will include snacks and the movie. There will be door prizes for all who attend. The film will be shown at 2 p.m.
Psychoanalyst, teacher and writer Dr. Allan Cooper, CCAPS Director of Education and Training, will lead a post-screening discussion.
CCAPS is a psychoanalytical training program for licensed mental health professionals. Affiliated with Fairleigh Dickinson University, CCAPS provides a psychoanalytical community for its students, faculty and graduates through Courses, meetings, workshops, presentations and social events.
