Above, College at Florham Provost Peter Woolley, University Provost Christopher Capuano, Susan Adams, FDU Interim President Sheldon Drucker, FDU alumnus and former NJ governor Richard Codey, NJ Assemblywoman Mila Jasey (D-27), Interim Dean Michael Avaltroni (FDU's School of Pharmacy), FDU Board of Trustees Chairman Patrick Zenner, and Dean Geoffrey Weinman (FDU's Becton College) cut the ribbon at FDU's School of Pharmacy's new facilities.

Fairleigh Dickinson Universityís new School of Pharmacy dedicated its facilities in Florham Park with a ribbon cutting on September 19 attended by the University community and FDU alumnus Richard Codey, former governor of New Jersey.

More than 80 students are now enrolled in FDUís School of Pharmacy, New Jerseyís first pharmacy school associated with a private university and only the second pharmacy school in New Jersey (the first to open in the state in more than 120 years). The inaugural class is comprised of students from four countries (United States, Russia, India and Nigeria) and from 14 states plus the District of Columbia. Approximately 600 students applied to the program.

The new school, located off campus at 230 Park Avenue, Florham Park, N.J.,  is designed to help address the growing need for licensed pharmacists who can incorporate advances in technology into health care service delivery and make changes in practice models needed to accommodate the increasing demands placed on health care services from an aging population and health care reform. In addition to addressing individual patient care needs in health care settings, professionals educated in pharmacy with specialty knowledge are increasingly sought by health care product and service industries, public and private health care payer organizations, academic institutions and state and federal regulatory agencies. Its curriculum incorporates technology, a global perspective and multiple master's degree options.

FDUís School of Pharmacy offers a variety of classroom, lab, and experiential opportunities to meet the learning styles of today's students and prepare them for careers in the 21st century.
