Anthony J. Petrocelli Awarded The Pinnacle
Madison, NJ (June 14, 2005) — In ceremonies held at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s College at Florham in Madison, NJ, on June 10, 2005, Anthony J. Petrocelli, of Mendham Township, NJ, was inducted into The Pinnacle, the highest award the University can bestow on its alumni. Pinnacle recipients are chosen on the basis of success or distinction in their chosen fields; significant contributions to society and humanity through public or humanitarian service; and outstanding service to the University, or reflection of the unique character of Fairleigh Dickinson in their lives.
A semi-retired entrepreneur, Anthony J. Petrocelli is one of the founders of D.G. Harris and Associates, a company that specializes in management buyouts in the chemical industry. Since its inception in 1988, D.G. Harris and Associates has completed more than 30 acquisitions.
After completing his graduate equivalency diploma, Petrocelli enrolled in Fairleigh Dickinson University while working full-time as a mail carrier for Allied Chemical. He earned his bachelor’s degree and held various management positions before starting his own company.
Often crediting his success to his education, Petrocelli recently made the largest charitable commitment in FDU’s 63-year history. In recognition of his generosity and commitment to the school’s growth, the University dedicated the Anthony J. Petrocelli College of Continuing Studies on April 28, 2005.
In 1998, he established the Petrocelli Charitable Trust, which provides grants to nonprofit organizations in New Jersey. In addition, he is a trustee of Fairleigh Dickinson University and the Link Community School, a non-denominational independent middle school established to help rebuild the North Ward community of Newark. He also serves as vice chairman of the Better Materials Aggregate Board in Berkeley, West Virginia. Mr. Petrocelli is listed in Who’s Who in Finance and Industry.
A 1969 graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University, with a bachelor’s degree in business management, Petrocelli and his wife, Antoinette, have one daughter.
