Professor Richard Panicucci Receives FDUís 2011 Elia G. Stratis CASTLE Award

MADISON, N.J. (October 11, 2011) ĖIn celebration of his accomplishments and activities as an outstanding alumnus of Fairleigh Dickinson University, Richard Panicucci, a resident of Pine Brook, N.J., was honored with the Elia G. Stratis CASTLE Award on Saturday, October 1. Panicucci retired earlier this year from his most recent position as Assistant Provost for Campus Life at FDUís Metropolitan Campus.

This award is the highest award the FDU Alumni Association presents to its most distinguished alumni. To receive this award, an individual must have made significant contributions to the university or have served with distinction in University organizations.

Panicucci has touched the lives of many faculty, students and staff during his 47 years at Fairleigh Dickinson University. His last message on every exam for the past 44 years has always beenóďWhen you are a student in my class, you remain my student for life. Never hesitate to call on me if I can ever be of assistance to you.Ē

Panicucci graduated from FDU in 1964 with a bachelorís of Science in Chemistry, and once again in 1966 with a Masters in Business Administration. He started lecturing in the M.B.A. program shortly after graduation and joined the business school faculty full-time in 1982. From 1986 until 1995, Panicucci was the Associate Dean for Student Services for FDUís Silberman College of Business Administration and served as acting dean of Silberman College of Business in 1996.

In 1997, Panicucci went on to create the first formal academic advising center at the University, which served all three campuses. His dedication to advising students did not stop with academics: Panicucci was the NCAA Faculty Representative from 1990 until 2011. In 1997, he helped create the Athletic Advisory board for which he is the first and only chairperson.

Last April, at the Student Government Association Gala, Panicucci was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for his selfless service and years of contribution to FDU.

The awards ceremony was held at FDUís College at Florham in conjunction with the Universityís Annual Family/Homecoming Weekend. For more information, please contact Okang McBride, director of alumni relations at 201-692-7013.
