Madison, NJ (May 14, 2013) -- Fairleigh Dickinson University and the Public Affairs Lecture Series (PALS) present "Behind the Headlines," a spring lecture series featuring presentations on current topics in the news and the critical perspectives needed to understand them.
Lectures will take place from 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m in the Dreyfuss Auditorium at the College at Florham at 285 Madison Ave., Madison, NJ 07940. Admission is $10 per lecture, or $50 for the series
On Monday, May 20, the topic will be "Gun Violence and the Second Amendment" with speaker Craig Whitney, reporter/editor at The New York Times, and author of Living With Guns: A Liberalís Case for the Second Amendment. A complimentary welcome coffee will precede this lecture at 9:15am
On Monday, June 3, Marc Hetherington, Professor of Political Science at Vanderbilt University will speak on "U.S. Political Trust".
The lecture on Monday, June 10 will focus on "Citizens United and Money in Politics", Adam Skagges, Senior Counsel for the Brennan Center for Justice Democracy Program.
On Monday, June 17 Gail Johnson, author of Two Years to Democracy Plan, will speak on "How to Fix Congress."
The series will conclude on Monday, June 24 when Stephen Miles, coalition coordinator for Win Without War, Center for International Policy, will discuss "Drone Warfare."
