Dennis O'Brien Inducted into The Pinnacle

Receives The University's Highest Alumni Award

Madison, NJ (April 24, 2001) Dennis O’Brien, recently retired vice president of finance, Consumer Healthcare, Pfizer, Inc. was inducted into The Pinnacle, the highest award Fairleigh Dickinson University bestows on its alumni.

In a ceremony at the University on April 20, O’Brien, who earned his bachelor’s degree at Fairleigh Dickinson’s Rutherford campus, was honored for the honesty, sensitivity and diligence he showed throughout his remarkably successful 35-year career at Warner Lambert Company.

He joined Warner Lambert in 1965, after graduating from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a degree in accounting. He soon began taking on increasingly prominent levels of responsibility, becoming an influential force in the growth of the company. His most challenging and rewarding assignment was as vice president of finance for Schick & Wilkinson Sward from 1992 to 1999. In this position he played integral roles in the globalization of Warner-Lambert’s shaving business, including the acquisition and integration of the European and North American business and the consolidation of its Hong Kong and China unit.

An outstanding athlete, O’Brien achieved national prominence as a pitcher on the university’s Division I baseball team by throwing back-to-back no hitters. This rare feat has been accomplished only once in major league history and perhaps is unequaled in collegiate baseball.

A resident of Chester, NJ, he is trustee for Daytop in Mendham, NJ, an organization that helps adolescents with substance abuse problems. He also recently established an endowed scholarship at Fairleigh Dickinson for promising student athletes in need of extra financial assistance.

His citation at the ceremonies concluded with "For working hard, playing hard and reaching goals few dare to dream of, Fairleigh Dickinson salutes you with The Pinnacle."
