Opera at Florham Presents Musicale “That’s Amore” Songs and “Arias of Love”
Madison, NJ (January 9, 2014)—The Opera at Florham will hold its next musicale on Sunday, January 26 at 3 p.m., featuring a variety of famous opera arias and Broadway love music in 14 songs in celebration of coming Valentine’s day. The event will take place in at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s College at Florham.
The venue, Lenfell Hall located in Hennessy Hall, was the drawing room of the Twombly family when they lived in the 100-room mansion.
The song list will include Libiamo (Brindisi) from Verdi’s La Traviata, O Mimi tu piu non torni from Puccini’s La Boheme, The Count’s aria from Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro, Some Enchanted Evening from Rodgers’ South Pacific, and Be my Love by Brodsky. As always, a few famous Broadway tunes are included in the program and refreshments will be served.

David Wroe, Opera at Florhams’ Music Director is also Music Director and Conductor for New Jersey Festival Orchestra, Westfield, NJ.
Soprano Tatiana Poletskaya, Tenor Mikhail Yanenko, and Baritone Ricardo Rivera will comprise the cast. Poletskaya and Yanenko are both natives of Russia and graduates of Gnessin Music College in Moscow.
Yanenko completed his traineeship in the Galina Veshnevskaya’s Opera Center in 2007, and he graduated from Gnessin Moscow State Academy of Music in 2012.
Mikhail launched his career with Tchaikovsky Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra in 2007 as Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore by Gaetano Donizetti.
Poletskaya graduated from Gnessin Music College in 2012 and got her start with Tchaikovsky Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, playing Adina in L’elisir d’amore by Gaetano Donizetti. In The Magic Flute by Mozart, Tatiana played The Queen of the Night. She has been the winner of the Felix Mendelssohn Competition in Moscow, the Silver Dew Competition in Moscow, and the Grand Prix of Feodor Chaliapin International Competition in Ukraine. In 2010, she became a soloist at the Catholic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Moscow. She sang in the choir at the Cathedral of the Catholic, where she performed Messiah by Handel and Great Mass in C Minor.
Rivera is a second-year Apprentice Artist with the Sante Fe Opera for 2013, where his roles have included Thomas Martin and Hotel Manager in the world premiere of Oscar and Germont in La Traviata. He also played the father in Opera at Florham & NJFO’s Hansel & Gretel productions at last December’s Christmas-Holiday Songfest & programs at Woodland School, Morristown and two schools in Newark for NJFO. In the 2012-2013 season, operatic performances included Mathieu in a return to the Opera Orchestra of New York in Andrea Chenier and debuts as Sharpless in Madama Butterfly, Ashby in La fanciulla del west with Knoxville Opera, and Corifeo in Jorge Lidermann's 20th-century opera Antigona Furiosa with the Grammy award-winning chamber music ensembles eighth blackbird and Pacifica Quartet.
A native of California, Karen Linstedt Delavan earned her MM in collaborative piano from The Juilliard School, and was a member of The Juilliard Opera Center.
In addition to more than 10 years as a successful freelance coach and recital accompanist in New York area, she has been adjunct faculty at Long Island University, and The Hartt School of Music, and held music staff positions with notable opera companies including Santa Fe Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, Sarasota Opera, Boston Lyric, Michigan Opera Theater, and The Spoleto Festival (Charleston). She currently resides in New Jersey with her husband, and three children.
Tickets are $30 for regular admission, $25 for seniors, and $10 for students under 22. Groups of 10 or more are $20 per ticket.
