Mary Ann Meola Honored With Pillar Award
Madison, NJ – September 29, 2006 – Maywood, N.J. resident Mary Ann Meola was honored as a “Pillar” of the campus community at Fairleigh Dickinson University Academic Convocation on Wednesday, September 27. The convocation was held in Dreyfuss Theater on the College at Florham Campus in Madison, N.J.
The Pillar Award is given annually to recognize exceptional individuals within the University, who over time, have made extraordinary contributions to the character and quality of the institution, its community and culture.
Meola has been an Administrative Assistant to the Educational Opportunity Fund on the Metropolitan Campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University, Hackensack, N.J. for 19years. “You daily assist and support students from all cultures and ethnic backgrounds with a ‘motherly’ sensitivity and firm commitment to FDU’s academic standards and core values,” said Dr. Joseph Kiernan, Metropolitan Campus Provost, when presenting her with the award.
She was lauded for her commitment, empathy, and support, beyond the call of duty, to students who needed an example of fairness and humanity.
Meola has resided in Maywood for over 35 years. The wife of the late Edward Meola, she is the mother of Lisa M. Veit, Lori Del Valle and Christine Meola. She is the grandmother of Antonio and Isabella Del Valle and Nathaniel Veit.
