Gesture Painting: “A Dance of Colors” is Theme of Mary Yim Kliauga Latest Exhibit
Hackensack, N.J. – December 14, 2006 – Artist Mary Yim Kliauga, a resident of Bergen County (New Milford), brings her landscape paintings and images of nature to the Weiner Library on Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Metropolitan Campus, Teaneck, N.J. at the beginning of the New Year. The paintings may be viewed from January 2 – 26, 2007. The public is welcome and there is no admission charge.
Mary Yim Kliauga’s work has been exhibited in shows throughout New Jersey, earning ribbons in a variety of media. In this show, “A Dance of Colors,” her gesture paintings, using brushes or fingers or items such as rags or paper towels, enables her to express the energy of motion. In this work, using oil on canvas, she shows the influence of the American modernist Joan Mitchell.
The paintings may be viewed at FDU’s Weiner Library, River Road, Teaneck, N.J., from Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. - 10 p.m.; on Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., and Sunday from 12 noon - 6 p.m. The Library will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King Day on Monday, January 15 and on Saturday, January 20 and Sunday.
