Marcum to Head Libraries on Both New Jersey CampusesTeaneck, NJ (July 18, 2002) — Dr. James W. Marcum has been appointed Fairleigh Dickinson University Librarian, effective July 1, 2002. The position is responsible for all library holdings and services on both campuses of the University as well as supporting the global and distributed learning initiatives of Fairleigh Dickinson. Marcum comes to Fairleigh Dickinson from the College of Staten Island of the City University of New York, where he held the positions of professor and chief librarian. At the College of Staten Island, he oversaw the library and media services that included the faculty/technology development office. Prior to his position in New York, Marcum served as director of library services at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin, Odessa, Texas, as well as senior lecturer in history. He earned his Ph.D. in Russian history and Soviet studies from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill; he holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Texas A&M, Kingsville, and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Marcum’s master’s degree in library science was granted by the University of North Texas. He has published extensively in his academic discipline as well as on modern information technology issues. | ||
