Cathy Liggett Honored as Pillar of FDU
Local Resident Honored With Pillar Award by Fairleigh Dickinson University Teaneck, N.J. - (September 28, 2005) – Catherine Liggett was honored as a “Pillar” of the Fairleigh Dickinson University community during the University’s convocation on September 28, 2005. Liggett is Head Athletic Trainer on FDU’s Metropolitan Campus, Teaneck, NJ.
The Pillar Award is given annually to recognize exceptional individuals within the University, who over time, have made extraordinary contributions to the character and quality of the institution, its community and culture.
Liggett, head athletic trainer for Division I athletics on the Metropolitan Campus since 1998, was cited by Dr. Joseph Kiernan, Provost of the Metropolitan Campus, “for your exemplary service dedicated to cultivating sound minds in sound bodies, we celebrate you as a Pillar of the community. While your official goal is to preserve the health and well being of student athletes, your endless care and consideration have enhanced the welfare of the entire University.”
In a collaborative effort with the psychology department, Liggett arranged to have graduate doctoral psychology students work with student athletes in sports psychology issues. She led the design of the weight and cardio rooms in the Fitness Center, arranged for speakers to discuss health issues, organized charity softball games and served on the Alcohol Threat Assessment Subcommittee and the Wellness Committee.
