Soorikian Exhibits "Levon Series"
Leonia resident Diana T. Soorikian’s latest group of paintings, “The Levon Series,” will be exhibited this spring at the Edward Williams Gallery, on Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Metropolitan Campus, Teaneck, N.J. from Monday, April 16 to Friday, May 25, 2007.
Soorikian, who received her Master of Fine Arts from Columbia University, New York, was included in Columbia’s retrospective, “Three Decades of Columbia Visual Artists.” She recently exhibited at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, an international juried show.
Soorikian is presently an adjunct professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Metropolitan Campus.
Her latest group of paintings on canvas are inspired by her grandkids. “These boy babies, unlike the cherubim of Renaissance and Baroque painting, hint of the men they might become. In these larger than life figures I hope to capture a primal memory that dogs us from the cradle to the grave through the angst of expression and the tension of posture,” says Soorikian.
The Edward Williams Gallery is located at 150 Kotte Place, Hackensack, NJ 07601. For more information, call the Gallery, 201-692-2449.
Gallery hours, which are Monday, Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m., and Saturday, 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. There is no admission charge.
