Holiday Concert Featuring Classical Piano and Violin Music at Fairleigh Dickinson University
November 23, 2010 - The public is invited to a free holiday concert of classical piano music to be held in Hennessy Hall on Fairleigh Dickinson University’s College at Florham on Sunday, December 12, at 2 p.m. The program includes selections from Chopin, Bach, Beethoven and Liszt and a guest appearance by Morristown resident and violinist, Stasz Klinge-Loy. The audience will have an opportunity to meet the performers at a reception following the concert.
Sponsored by FDU’s Becton College of Arts and Sciences and The New York Piano Society, the concert features performers who are members of the New York Piano Society. They are outstanding amateur performers who have established careers in fields other than music.
The New York Piano Society, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to discovering and nurturing talented performers whose primary profession is not in the field of music performance. The society brings together people of varying vocations for a shared experience founded on their love of the piano and classical music. According to pianist Elena Leonova, the founder and the artistic director of the society, the objective of the society is to “establish a venue to enable amateurs to perform publicly.”
A graduate of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Leonova has been critically acclaimed by the major press and has been the first prizewinner in several American piano competitions. She has appeared in recitals and as a soloist with orchestras throughout the U.S. and abroad. Leonova is a graduate of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory and currently on the faculty of Mannes College of Music.
The doors will open at 1:30 p.m. Reservations are not necessary. For more information visit www.newyorkpianosociety.com or call 646-418-0579.
