Ambassador Yehuda Lancry To Speak

Teaneck, NJ (May 2, 2002) The United Nations Pathway Lecture Series at Fairleigh Dickinson University will present the Permanent Representative of Israel to the United Nations, Ambassador Yehuda Lancry, as a guest speaker on Wednesday, May 15. His presentation, "Israel in a Global Community," will begin at 7:15 p.m. in Wilson Auditorium, Dickinson Hall.

Ambassador Yehuda Lancry is the twelfth Permanent Representative of Israel to the United Nations. He has served as Israeli Ambassador to France and as a member of the Knesset. Prior to his appointment to Paris, Dr. Lancry headed the Public Council of Israel Television and Radio, Channel Two. He served two terms as Mayor of Shlomi in northern Israel. From 1988 to 1992, Dr. Lancry was a guest lecturer in French Literature at Haifa University.

Dr. Lancry has published numerous articles in both academic and popular publications. He is the author of "Michel Butor or the Resistance" and co-author, with Michel Butor and Henri Maccheroni, of "Truces and Dreams". He received his masterís and doctoral degrees in French literature at Nice University.

The Ambassadorís lecture is part of the fourth annual Bergen County Israel Culture and Film Festival. The 12-day Festival is sponsored by UJA Federation of Bergen County & North Hudson Israel Programs Center in cooperation with the Consulate General of Israel in New York. The Ambassadorís appearance is sponsored by the Office of Jewish Affairs and Israel Programs and the Office of Global Relations at the University.

"Israeli Leaders in a Global Eye" a photo exhibit by Shahar Azran, an Israeli photographer and FDU student, is open to the public from May 9-15. The exhibit, in the lobby of Dickinson Hall, Fairleigh Dickinson University, is free.
