Carol Knauff Receives Elia G. Stratis Castle Award from Fairleigh Dickinson University
Madison, NJ (October 2007)-—In celebration of her accomplishments and activities as an outstanding alumna of Fairleigh Dickinson University, Carol C. Knauff, a resident of Mendham, NJ, was honored with the Elia G. Stratis CASTLE Award, the highest award the Alumni Association presents to its most distinguished alumni. The acronym CASTLE represents Commitment, Allegiance, Support, Teamwork, Leadership and Enthusiasm, all qualities Knauff demonstrated during her years at FDU and as an alumna.
In presenting the award, Nick Agostino, president of the Alumni Board of Governors, said,"the Alumni Board of Governors is proud to present this award to Carol Knauff. She is a wonderful example of the high quality of our alumni."
Knauff is actively involved in many aspects of the life of the university. Currently, she is executive director of the Star Challenge program at FDU, a science enrichment program for students in grades 6-8. Carol was instrumental in bringing this exciting program to the University. She also serves as the Executive Vice President of the Alumni Board of Governors. Last month, she was named to the Board of Friends of Florham, a community organization that assists the university in preserving the historic elements of the campus.
In the wider community, Knauff is a partner in NineWomen LLC, an organization dedicated to helping women over 45 thrive. The organization has written a book, developed products to explore possibilities, given lectures and run seminars.
Knauff retired from AT&T as President of AT&T International, where she was responsible for all AT&T operations outside the US. She was named Outstanding Engineering Alumni and Alumni Fellow by Penn State. In 2002, she was a recipient of the FDU Alumni PINNACLE, the highest award given to alumni of outstanding achievement, both in academics and volunteer contributions to the University and local community. Knauff earned her MBA at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
The awards ceremony was held at the College of Florham’s Madison campus on Saturday, September 29, 2007, in conjunction with the University’s Annual Family/Homecoming Weekend.
