Fairleigh Dickinson University Students to Present “Into the Woods” in March and April
The award-winning musical “Into the Woods,” from the story by James Lapine, will be presented from Wednesday, March 30 to Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 8 p.m., and the following Friday, April 8 and Saturday, April 9 at 8 p.m., on Fairleigh Dickinson University’s College at Florham, 285 Madison Avenue, Madison, N.J. on the Dreyfuss Theater stage. There is also a Sunday, April 10th matinee at 2:30 p.m.

A special free matinee for high school classes will be held on Friday, April 1 at 11 a.m. Arrangements for high school classes to attend may be made by calling Stephen Hollis, Director, 973-443-8644. These seats are available due to the generous grant from the Peter Jay Sharp Foundation.
A special dinner/show night on Saturday, April 9 at 6 p.m. is being sponsored by FDU’s Alumni Office. This Stephen Sondheim play won several Tony Awards, including Best Score, Best Book and Best Actress in a Musical. It has been produced many times, as a national tour in 1988, in a 1990 West End production, a television production, and again in 2002 as a Broadway revival.
It intertwines the plots of several Brothers Grimm fairy tales, with stories taken from Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel and Cinderella.

This student production is directed and choreographed by Cindy Thole, with Allen Cohen as Musical Director. It is sponsored by FDU’s Department of Visual and Performing Arts.
