Artist Paul Ramirez Jonas to Present at FDUís College at FlorhamMadison, NJ (October 9, 2009) ó Artist Paul Ramirez Jonas will give a presentation on his artwork and ideas. His art draws on themes of geography, identity and democracy, through a variety of media. Jonas will present on November 4, 2009 at 5:30 p.m.
His work is currently featured in the 53rd Venice Biennial, and the Walker Art Center (Minneapolis). Recent solo exhibitions include the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Connecticut, The Blanton Museum of Art at the University of Texas, Austin; Ikon Gallery in Birmingham, U.K.; and the L.F.L. Gallery in New York City.
Jonas is Professor of Art at Hunter College (C.U.N.Y.) and holds a M.F.A. from the Rhode Island School of Design. His honors include grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the International Studio Program in Sweden, and the Atlantic Center for the Arts.
This presentation is part of the 2009-2010 Interrogating Boundaries lecture series entitled ďArtistic Bridges.Ē
Interrogating Boundaries is an interdisciplinary, interdepartmental program of Fairleigh Dickinson that has sponsored presentations in the past on topics such as race and ethnicity, gender roles, and globalization.
