"Images of the Politician in Hollywood Movies"

Dr. Harry Keyishian Offers Lecture and Visuals

Madison, NJ –September 29, 2003 – Dr. Harry Keyishian, professor of English at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s College at Florham, in Madison, NJ, will speak on the subject, "Images of the Politician in Hollywood Movies" at the Campus Library on Sunday, October 12. He will trace the many ways politicians have been portrayed in film, from national saviors bearing the sacred responsibility of leadership to self-serving scoundrels who have sold their souls for power. Clips from significant political movies will illustrate a variety of political types.

Dr. Keyishian is the author of Screening Politics: The Politician in American Movies, 1931-2001 (Scarecrow Press, 2003). The author of The Shapes of Revenge, a study of Shakespeare, he teaches courses in drama and film.

The public is invited to the opening reception between 2:30-4:30 p.m. Dr. Keyishian will speak at 3 p.m. There is no admission charge.
