Allan B. Igo, Jr. Named Outstanding Volunteer of the Year
MADISON, NJ (October 17, 2006) – Allan B. Igo, Jr., a resident of North Plainfield, NJ has been honored with the “Volunteer of the Year” award from the Alumni Association of the University. This prestigious award is given each year to an alumnus who has contributed significantly to academic programs, admissions, athletics, career development, chapters, fundraising, and student life.
Igo earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Finance in Madison. He has worked as a Managing Agent for ERA Statewide Realty in Cranford, NJ since 1993.
In conferring the award on Igo, Doug Rizzo, Vice President of the Alumni Board of Governers, cited the many areas in which Igo contributed to the university.
“He has volunteered countless hours to the University community by serving as the Board of Governors representative on various alumni committees and programs,” said Rizzo
For the past three years, Igo has been actively involved with several aspects of the University through his post on the Alumni Board of Governors.
He has chaired the Events Committee from 2004 to the present, assisting in the planning of Homecoming and coordinating basketball alumni receptions on both campuses. Igo also helped implement and produce the Alumni Connections newsletter. As chair of the Events Committee, he took part in promoting on- campus events such as student plays, athletic contests, FDU NetWorks, and FDU Horizons. Igo was an invited speaker at the 2006 Pre-Commencement Candle Lighting Ceremony. Additionally, he has served as the Liaison to the FDU Society planning committee.
Igo has served on the committees for the Shields Golf Outing, benefiting the College at Florham Athletic Department, and for the Knights Golf Outing, benefiting the Metropolitan Campus Athletic Department.
He took part in the recent Middle States Re-accreditation review. Igo has also assisted in Admissions Sneak Preview and Admissions Scholars Days Interviews. He served on the Alumni Weekend Planning Committee from 2003-2004.
