Hispanic Community Day
"Hispanic Community Day" Open House on July 27 at Fairleigh Dickinson University
Teaneck, NJ (July 7, 2003) — With music, food, prizes and scholarships, "Hispanic Community Day" Open House not only celebrates Hispanic heritage but introduces the new bilingual degree program for adults at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
On Sunday, July 27, from noon to 4 p.m. (rain or shine), the University invites the Hispanic community to an afternoon filled with fun, learning and community spirit at the Edward Williams Building, 150 Kotte Place on the Hackensack side of the Metropolitan Campus of FDU. It is also an opportunity to learn about special services for the Hispanic community.
Join friends and neighbors to learn about the new Puerta al Futuro program for Spanish-speaking adults. This program gradually transitions students from all-Spanish to all-English classes over the course of study. By attending evening and Saturday classes as a group, participants develop their English writing and speaking skills and earn an Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree with a business concentration. It is the only A. A. degree program in New Jersey to offer courses completely in Spanish.
Language instruction will be provided though the University’s partnership with ELS Educational Services, Inc., a division of Berlitz International, Inc.
The Puerta al Futuro program has been developed in cooperation with the Bergen Hispanic Business Association and the Institute for Latino Studies, Research and Development. For more information, contact the Director of the program, Deborah Gonzalez, at 201 692 2449 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
