Ann Gulino — A Pillar of FDU
Teaneck, NJ (October 4,2004)—Ann Gulino has received a Pillar of Fairleigh Dickinson University Award in recognition of her nearly two decades of service to the University. The award was presented at a University-wide convocation on September 29, 2004.
Ms. Gulino is the Associate Director, Senior Women’s Administrator, Athletics on FDU’s Metropolitan Campus, Teaneck, NJ. Her advocacy of gender equity has resulted in several new women’s sports and earned the University widespread acclaim.
She has directed the NCAA certification process and ensured compliance with the highest standards of excellence. The outstanding records of FDU’s student-athletes, on the scoreboard and in the classroom, reflect the tone she has set.
In presenting the award, Metropolitan Campus Provost Joseph Kiernan congratulated Ms. Gulino, saying “During your years of service to FDU, you have been the backbone of an athletic program marked by passion, integrity and distinction.”
During her years at FDU, she has twice assumed leadership for the Division I Athletics program as the acting director. By taking on these new responsibilities, she made certain, not only that continuity was maintained, but also that progress continued during periods of transition.
In addition to her duties with Division I Athletics, Gulino has been active in campus activities, including involvement with student life and served University and campus-wide efforts such as the Threat Assessment Task Force.
The Pillar Award is given annually to recognize exceptional individuals within the University who, over time, have made extraordinary contributions to the character and quality of the institution, its community and culture.
