“New Dimensions” Photography of Richard Gheno on Display at FDU
TEANECK, NJ (October 12, 2006) – Photographer Richard Gheno will show his art at the Writing Studio Gallery in Weiner Library of Fairleigh Dickinson University in an exhibit entitled, “New Dimensions.” The exhibit will begin on October 14 and run through December 1.
In speaking about the inspiration for this exhibit, Gheno said, “The dawning of the digital era has opened new doors to creativity. The digital darkroom affords a venue that allows an artist to pursue techniques that, otherwise, would require an enormous investment in time and materials. I have taken advantage of this opportunity to explore a variety of printing methods that were, previously, unavailable to me.”
The exhibit explores the new possibilities in photography as it enters the Digital Age, and examines the simplification of photo processing.
An active photographer for over two decades, Richard Gheno has competed in national and international competitions, contributed work to stock agencies, and produced self- published works.
He serves as Vice President of the Paterson Youth Photography Project (P.Y.P.P) and also teaches in the Paterson Y.M.C.A Silk City Arts Saturday program. In his role as a teacher, he explains to students both the technical and creative aspects of using a camera, and relates that information to real-world career applications.
As a member of the Ridgewood Camera Club for eight years, Gheno has planned and presented workshops, organized field trips, and classified prints for juried competitions.
The exhibit will be open during the Library’s regular hours: 8 a.m.-9 p.m., Monday-Thursday; 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Friday; 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday; and 12 p.m.-10 p.m. on Sunday. The exhibit will be unavailable when class is held in the Writing Studio. Call 201-692-2140 for a schedule.
