Innaurato's Comedy To Be Staged At FDU
Madison, NJ – April 9, 2009 – Fairleigh Dickinson University’s College at Florham is bringing the award-winning play “Gemini” to the Dreyfuss Theater stage this month. This student production, sponsored by FDU’s Department of Visual and Performing Arts, is being directed by Stephen Hollis.
Innaurato’s outrageous comedy, which ran on Broadway for more than four years, was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding New American Play in 1977. It is set in the backyard of two adjoining houses in South Philadelphia, one occupied by Fran Geminiani, a blue collar laborer and his college student son, the other by a boisterous, earthy neighbor and her teenage asthmatic son. The unexpected arrival of Francis’ friends who come to celebrate his birthday creates a series of lively, hysterical and touching moments when passions, desires and secret longings are unleashed.
The evening performances will be held at 8 p.m. from Wednesday, April 29 to Saturday, May 2, and a 2:30 p.m. Sunday matinee on May 3. General admission is $10; $5 for students/seniors. Tickets may be reserved by calling 973-443-8644, press 4, or purchased at the door.
A special matinee for high school classes will be held on May 1 at 11 a.m. Arrangements for high school classes to attend may be made by calling Stephen Hollis, at 973-443-8467.
