Fairleigh Dickinson Honors Outstanding Staff Members
Ethel Froewiss a Recipient of Pillars of FDU Award
IMMEDIATE RELEASE Teaneck, NJ (October 8, 2001)—At Fairleigh Dickinson University’s annual Academic Convocation, held October 3 on the Teaneck-Hackensack Campus, the university community celebrated the opening of the academic year and honored distinguished faculty and outstanding staff members.
At this year’s ceremony, Summit resident Ethel Froewiss was one of four recipients of the University’s Pillars of Fairleigh Dickinson University Award. This award is given annually to recognize exceptional individuals within the university who, over time, have made extraordinary contributions to the character and quality of the institution, its community and culture.
For approximately 20 years, Froewiss, Associate Director of Transfer Admissions on the Florham-Madison Campus, has been described as the "lifeblood" of the admissions office. Being in touch with students, even before they are students, she does it all, from recruiting to reviewing applications, to advising and counseling. Highly respected among high school guidance counselors and county college professionals, she is known for reaching out to prospective students, encouraging them to pursue their dreams and steering them toward the right plan for success.
A frequent attendee at FDU’s athletic events, theater productions and other campus activities, she sees first-hand and up close the progress of those whom she helped launch their collegiate careers. In turn, students frequently visit to thank her for her personal touch and their praise is the ultimate reward for her steadfast dedication.
In presenting the award, Peter Falley, Provost of the Florham-Madison Campus, said "Her hard work and dedication to understanding student needs have truly made her office and the University a great place to be. She is indeed a worthy recipient of the Pillars of Fairleigh Dickinson Award."
