About Richard Fritzky
Richard Fritzky, father of 12 children and an adjunct professor at FDU for 30 years, contracted a rare form of meningitis in October 2005. Fritzky was hospitalized for more that a year, surviving kidney failure, 22 operations and the amputation of both legs and nine fingers. Fritzky still battles renal failure, but works at home teaching an online course for FDU and serving as editor of Meadowlands USA magazine. Proceeds from the benefit dinner will help pay his medical bills and family expenses.
FDU organized a 2006 benefit softball game between the members of the 1986 and 1991 Super Bowl Champion Giants and The King and His Court that raised more than $15,000 for the Friends of Rich Fritzky trust fund. A November 2008 benefit sports dinner raised $25,000.
