Come dine and dance in a mansion from the Golden Age
September 10, 2013 (Madison, NJ) — The Friends of Florham will hold their annual black tie Gala September 28 at 6:30 p.m. in Hennessy Hall at the College at Florham of Fairleigh Dickinson University. Tickets for this fundraising event are available to the public.
Jazz and Society Swing music will be provided by the David Humm Trio. The Gala will honor the new President of Fairleigh Dickinson University, Sheldon Drucker.
The venue, Lenfell Hall located in Hennessy Hall, was the drawing room of the Twombly family when they lived in the 100-room mansion.
Executive Chef, Jeff Gormley, will prepare a three-course meal featuring autumnal accents.
Tickets for this fundraiser are $195 to $250 a person, and include dinner and dancing. Proceeds from this event will be used for the ongoing restoration of "Florham," former mansion of Florence Vanderbilt Twombly and Hamilton Twombly. All amounts over $80 are considered a donation.
The mission of the Friends of Florham is to advise and assist the administration and Board of Trustees of Fairleigh Dickinson University in the care, maintenance, and historic preservation of "Florham." The Friends believe that the buildings, designed by the premier architecture firm, McKim, Mead and White, and the grounds designed by noted landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmsted, are of significant historic value. To preserve them they continue to raise funds through galas, contributions, and grants. In addition, the Friends offer lectures on the Gilded Age. These lectures are open to the public.
