Fairleigh Dickinson University is now officially “patched-in,” with a blog in the “Local Voices” section of the Madison Patch website.
Patch.com is a hyper-local website that specializes in town-by-town coverage throughout areas of the United States, including the township of Teaneck and borough of Madison in New Jersey.
Recently, staff in the Office of Public Relations met with Patch’s Associate Regional Editor for Northern New Jersey, Rick Burchfield, to discuss how the University and Patch.com could further work together in getting the FDU word out to the local community.
“We’ve worked with local Patch.com affiliates as they cover University stories, cultivating relationships with various community editors. We’re excited to take this next step with the website,” says Dina Schipper, Director of Public Relations. “Maintaining our own blog through Madison Patch allows our department to easily share FDU news with the community. It’s a local approach to spreading the University’s global message.”
Now, when the Office of Public Relations takes photographs and reports on FDU events and stories, reaching a broader audience will be even easier. Recent blog posts include a story detailing Newark Mayor Cory Booker’s visit to the College at Florham; a feature on FDU alum Chris Dimoulas, his full-length film “Ever Last” and it’s screening at the Garden State Film Festival; and an article covering Professor Marie Roberts’ sideshow banner artwork landing on the cover of Norah Jones and friends’ latest effort.
“The blog is just another platform we can use to drive the Fairleigh Dickinson University community and other New Jerseyans back to our own website, www.fdu.edu,” explains Schipper.
