Presentation on solving family problems in family-businesses at FDU

MADISON, NJ (August 31, 2011)— Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Rothman Institute for Entrepreneurship will be hosting a presentation on solving family problems in family-owned firms on September 15, 2011 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Rutherford Room in the Ferguson Recreation Center as part of its 2011 O. Berk Company Family Business Forum program. Admission is free.

The speaker, Amy Schuman, principal, Family Business Consultant Group, will discuss “Mastering Family Business Polarities.” These “polarities” can include whether the family should put the family’s needs or the business’s needs first. In this session, business-owning families examine classic examples of the polarities that face family businesses across the world. Participants learn a powerful and practical tool — a polarity map. They will learn to use a polarity map to increase their abilities to manage seemingly unsolvable problems, becoming more effective managers, family members and stewards of the family enterprise.

Part of the Silberman College of Business since 1989, the mission of the Rothman Institute for Entrepreneurship is to teach and support entrepreneurship and innovation in the academic, business and nonprofit communities. An outstanding entrepreneurship curriculum taught by an excellent faculty has helped make the academic program among the top 20 in the nation (as ranked by the Princeton Review).
