FDU Introduces First App Specifically Targeted for Family Business Education

Madison, N.J. (November 28, 2011)—Fairleigh Dickinson University’s O.Berk Company Family Business Forum just released the “Family Business Playbook” app for the iPhone and Android smartphones as well as iPads and Android tablets on November 1, 2011.

This is the first mobile application specifically targeted for family business education. The “Family Business Playbook” is a quick reference guide for family business leaders.  It is designed to give information on how to better navigate the complex issues that are found in all family firms.  The app covers topics such as succession, estate planning and conflict resolution.

“The Rothman Institute is excited to be the first to provide a mobile app that benefits family businesses,” said James Barrood, the executive director of the Rothman Institute.  “This is an innovative tool where family business leaders can get answers to the most fundamental questions relating to the challenges facing family firms.  This will allow us to help families around the world be more successful as they grow their enterprises."

Established in 1992, The O.Berk Company Family Business Forum is the only organization of its kind in the state.  Its interactive educational programs and peer support groups help members of family-owned firms effectively deal with important issues such as succession planning, conflict management, and organizational strategy.

Part of the Silberman College of Business since 1989, the mission of the Rothman Institute for Entrepreneurship is to teach and support entrepreneurship and innovation in the academic, business and nonprofit communities.  An outstanding entrepreneurship curriculum taught by an excellent faculty has helped make the academic program among the top ranked centers in the nation.

The app can be downloaded for free online at http://itunes.apple.com/app/family-business-playbook-free/id461661286?mt=8 or https://market.android.com/.  For more information call the Rothman Institute at (973) 443-8842.
