Sixteen Families will be honored by the Nineteenth Annual New Jersey Family Business of the Year Awards
MADISON, N.J. (September 19, 2011)— Sixteen family-owned businesses will share the spotlight at the Nineteenth Annual New Jersey Family Business of the Year Awards presentation, which will take place during an awards luncheon on October 11 at the Crystal Plaza in Livingston with guest emcee Brenda Blackmon.
All of the finalists and semifinalists in each category—those companies with annual revenues up to $10M and those over $10M—will be honored during the ceremony. The names of the winners, selected from among the finalists, will be revealed for the first time at the luncheon.
Besides being an alumna of Fairleigh Dickinson, Blackmon is an Emmy Award winning journalist and currently serves the president of Brenda Blackmon Communications, Inc. She has worked as a reporter, film editor, photographer, talk show host for radio and TV, show producer, writer, and TV anchorwoman.
The awards program, sponsored by the Rothman Institute of Entrepreneurship at Fairleigh Dickinson University, PNC Bank, and New Jersey Monthly magazine, represents the only statewide effort to specifically honor family-owned companies for their significant role in the economy and contributions to the community.

Sickles Market, Little Silver, has been selling top quality produce, plants, gourmet food, and garden accessories since 1908.
Ski Barn, Paramus, is the tri-state area’s premier pro ski and snowboard shop and are a three-time SIA “Retailer of the Year” award winner. Ski Barn has been operating for over 40 years.
