FDUís Rothman Institute Hosts Event on Family Business Succession PlanningMADISON, N.J. (October 4, 2010)ó Fairleigh Dickinson Universityís Rothman Institute for Entrepreneurship will be hosting a presentation called ďThe Ins and Outs of Effective Succession Planning,Ē as part of its 2010 O. Berk Company Family Business Forum program schedule on October 14, 2010 from 8:00 to 10:30 a.m. in the Rutherford Room. Admission is free.
Despite the proliferation of family firms, only one in 10 reaches their third generation of family owner-managers. This workshop, given by members of the Forumís sponsor organizations, aims to offer an insight into the interwoven family and business and ownership issues that overshadow the survival and growth of family owner/managed businesses and provide the steps on how to transform a stagnant family business into an entrepreneurial growth-inspired business.
The panel of speakers presenting at this event include Barbara Semple and Harold Sobel, of Sobel & Co. and James Dy, of Main Street Wealth Management. Bob Lemaire from CitiGroup will also give a talk on the new SBA Lending guidelines recently passed by Congress and signed into law.
Part of the Silberman College of Business since 1989, the mission of the Rothman Institute for Entrepreneurship is to teach and support entrepreneurship and innovation in the academic, business and nonprofit communities. An outstanding entrepreneurship curriculum taught by an excellent faculty has helped make the academic program among the top 20 in the nation.
Established in 1992, the O. Berk Company Family Business Forum is a membership-based program of approximately 20-25 family companies that meet on a regular basis.
