Greg McCann to Present in Rothman Institute’s Family Business Forum

MADISON, N.J. (October 1, 2009)—  Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Rothman Institute for Entrepreneurship will be hosting a presentation by Greg McCann, entitled “The Next Generation: Its 8 Biggest Challenges,” as part of its 2009 Family Business Forum program schedule. McCann will present on October 22, 2009 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Rutherford Room.

McCann’s presentation will discuss the challenges faced by families who intend to continue ownership of the family firm to the next generation. McCann will address each of the top eight challenges facing the next generation of a business-owning family, providing strategies to overcome these challenges and examples of the consequences of ignoring them.

McCann, who is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a law degree from the University of Florida, is a full professor of Business Law and Family Business at Stetson University. He founded the Family Enterprise Center at Stetson University and served as its director from 1998 to 2006. Currently, McCann is the academic coordinator of the Family Business curriculum and oversees the major and minor offered at Stetson.

As a researcher and author, McCann has published many valuable works on family enterprise and is a regular contributor to Generation Magazine, Family Business Magazine, and Family Business Review, a quarterly business journal published by the Family Firm Institute.

Part of the Silberman College of Business since 1989, the mission of the Rothman Institute for Entrepreneurship is to teach and support entrepreneurship and innovation in the academic, business and nonprofit communities.
